The Opportunity

We're looking for someone to support PIR participants and their families to exercise choice and control in the NDIS environment. The Partners in Recovery initiative aims to improve the system response for people living with severe and persistent mental illness.

This is a part time 24hr pw maximum term opportunity ending 30 June 2017. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

You will report to the Partners in Recovery Customer Service Manager in our Enabling and Life Building Customer Segment. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting participants prepare for NDIS
  • Facilitating active consumer networks within the region
  • Support ineligible applicants to connect with alternative services
  • Strengthen recovery oriented approaches
  • Willingness to share personal lived experience to foster hope, self management and social inclusion
  • Maintaining partnerships across a broad range of sectors
  • Networking and negotiating with NDIA and other key stakeholders
  • Person centred / recovery oriented planning with customers

Skill and Experience:

  • Personal lived experience in mental health recovery (essential)
  • Experience working with people with a severe and persistent mental illness
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for the sector and supporting vulnerable people
  • A positive and person-centred approach
  • Technical literacy with proven ability to use Microsoft Office and systems for reporting
  • Minimum Certificate IV or relevant qualification in Mental Health/ Community Services, or relevant industry experience
  • A current NSW drivers Licence and willingness to travel
  • Willingness to obtain an Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC and first aid certificate that meet New Horizons employment criteria prior to commencing with us.
