The Opportunity

We're looking for an individual to support people living with a disability in a community outreach setting.

The positions available are:

  • Full time, max term maternity leave opportunity (until the 16th of May 2017)
  • Permanent part time (32 hours per week)
  • Casual

Position's are based in Lismore. Working hours will be across a 7 day rotating roster – staff will be required to work weekends. The majority of working hours will be between 6am and 10pm.

You will report to the rostered site Team Leader in our Lismore Hub. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Person centred / recovery oriented planning with customers
  • Promoting and empowering independence
  • Assisting customers with activities of daily living
  • Undertaking travel using various modes of public transport
  • Participating in a range of activities within the community such as shopping, health and wellbeing activities, and attending appointments
  • Contributing to the development of individual support plans for your customers;
  • Managing challenging behaviours

 

Skill and Experience:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for the sector and supporting vulnerable people
  • Technical literacy with proven ability to use Microsoft Office and systems for reporting
  • Minimum Cert IV in Disability, Community Services or equivalent industry experience
  • Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
  • A current NSW drivers licence
  • Willingness to obtain an Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC and first aid certificate that meet New Horizons employment criteria prior to commencing with us.
