The Opportunity
We're looking for a caring and compassionate individual to support our customers recovery journey in community outreach settings.
The position available is:
- 2 x full time permanent opportunities based in Newcastle. Working hours will be across a 7 day rotating roster between the hours of 6am - 10pm.
You will report to the rostered site Team Leader in our Hunter Newcastle Hub. Key responsibilities will include:
- Person centred / recovery oriented planning with customers
- Promoting and empowering independence
- Assisting customers with activities of daily living
- Undertaking travel using various modes of public transport
- Participating in a range of activities within the community such as shopping, health and wellbeing activities, and attending appointments
- Contributing to the development of individual support plans for your customers;
- Managing some challenging behaviours
Skill and Experience:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for the sector and supporting vulnerable people
- Technical literacy with proven ability to use Microsoft Office and systems for reporting
- Minimum Cert IV in Mental Health or Disability or equivalent industry experience
- Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
- A current NSW Driver Licence
- Willingness to obtain an Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC and first aid certificate that meet New Horizons employment criteria prior to commencing with us.
