The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced manager to support a team with the day to day operations of the finance function. As well as analysing and applying accounting principles and procedures that support a number of strategic deliverables within our organisation. In this diverse role you will have opportunities to deliver results within a number of Finance functions.

This is a full-time maximum term opportunity until 22nd December 2017. Working hours will be between the hours of 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday.  

Based in North Ryde, you will report to the Financial Controller as part of our Finance Department.

This role will allow you to shape and lead a team that makes a meaningful contribution to the goals of an organisation that supports vulnerable people. You will strive for continuous improvement and contribute advice, reports and analysis that supports project planning and implementation across the wider organisation. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading your team through effective mentoring, coaching and creating a positive learning environment
  • Driving, leading and instilling a culture of continuous improvement, by seeking new opportunities to improve customer experiences and service offerings
  • Demonstrating flexible and adaptable communication techniques, and use influencing skills to resolve problems for beneficial outcomes
  • Proactively promoting and implementing change initiatives and role model positive behaviour in line with our values
  • Coordinating and participating in various budget processes and preparing various management reports
  • Performing activities associated with organisational financial planning and/or management accounting reports
  • Managing general accounting functions, specifically processing basic and routine functions related to Accounts Manage Payable and/or Accounts Receivable
  • Coordinating the year-end schedule across the regions, ensuring that all financial and non-financial information is provided to Head Office within the agreed timetable
  • Ensure timely NDIS claim and relevant reports preparation
  • Prepare financial acquittal and year end audit

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum three years experience in a similar management role supporting Accounting/Finance;
  • Experience of statutory accounts production is essential;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance;
  • CPA or CA Certification, or working towards certification with extensive working experience;
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamic NAV will be a distinct advantage;
  • Proven ability across all Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel (pivot tables and v-lookup);
  • Adaptable/flexible mindset and work ethic;
  • Experience with tailoring communication style to build effective relationships across all levels within our organisation;
  • Attention to detail and an intentional commitment to deliver accurate and timely documentation/processes;
  • Proven ability to analyse and translate data into meaningful reports;
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision;
  • Proven experience providing solution focused advice within tight timeframes;
