The Opportunity
We're looking for individuals to support people living with Acquired Brain Injuries and Intellectual Disabilities in a community outreach setting.
The position is part time, 24 hours per week and a maximum term contract till 9th May 2018.
The vacancy is based in Lismore. Working hours will be across a 7 day rotating roster – staff will be required to work weekends. The majority of working hours will be between 6am and 10pm.
You will report to the rostered site Team Leader in our Lismore Hub.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Person centred service delivery
- Promoting and empowering independence
- Assisting customers with activities of daily living
- Undertaking travel using various modes of public transport
- Participating in a range of activities within the community such as shopping, health and wellbeing activities, personal hygiene, domestic tasks and attending appointments
- Developing and implementing Person Centred plans for your customers;
- Managing challenging behaviours
Skill and Experience:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for the sector and supporting vulnerable people
- Technical literacy with proven ability to use Microsoft Office and systems for reporting
- Minimum Cert IV in Disability, Community Services or equivalent industry experience
- Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
- A current NSW drivers licence
- Willingness to obtain an Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC and first aid certificate that meet New Horizons employment criteria prior to commencing with us.
